Although these types of rugs and carpets are currently regarded
as high fashion by today’s consumers and designers looking for floor-coverings
the truth is that natural floorings are hardly new. The origins
are visible in the ancient Egyptian culture. They took bulrushes
from the Nile and wove them into mats.
Sisal plants produce a fiber which is stronger than many other
common fibers such as flax, hemp, and jute.
The fibers of sisal natural floor coverings are often left undyed,
so they take their color from the plant from which they are made.
They can be bleached to offer a lighter, more neutral look. Sisal
can also be dyed. This can give the material a subtle hint of color
without impairing the natural, undyed look.
Natural Area Rugs have made a commitment to excellence by providing
exceptional quality fiber flooring. We select only the finest natural
fibers for our area rugs that blend modern technology with classic
textile traditions. Nature provides variations of color and fiber
thickness which combine to make each of our area rugs truly unique.
